Implementing KeyMan Encryption into PDG Products
In addition to server settings that allow you to restrict access to certain portions of your PDG Software
application, you can further protect the privacy of your email notifications and your order log files by
encrypting them via public/private key encryption, so that only individuals with access to the private key
can read them. To do so, you will need to download and configure two software programs and the free
PDG Software encryption utility. You will use a tool known as PGP Keys to create your security keys,
PDG Key Manager to import your keys into your PDG product, and GNU Privacy Guard to encrypt your
vendor e-mail notifications and order log files.
Quick Overview
These are the basic steps necessary to use encryption with PDG software.
- Download two encyrption software programs and the PDG Key Manager utility to your local computer
and place them in different folders.
- Uncompress the archived (compressed) programs and install them as appropriate.
- Create your security keys using PGP Keys and export your key.
- Copy or FTP certain files to your host server in the correct file format.
- Use the PDG Key Manager to import your security key into GNUPG.
- Configure PDG software to use GNUPG to encrypt vendor order email to merchant.
- Configure PDG software to use GNUPG to encrypt your order log files (Optional).
- Configure your email program, for example, Microsoft Outlook, to decrypt order emails you receive.
- Test your configuration.
Before you begin this process, we suggest that you read the
KeyManager Encryption Documentation and Instruction Manual.
