ATLANTA, (August 24, 2004) - PDG Software, Inc., a leader in Internet commerce for small to medium sized businesses, today announced the release of PDG Shopping Cart Version 4 and PDG Commerce Version 4 - the latest versions of its popular ecommerce shopping cart softwares.

Since its inception in 1997, PDG Software has continuously refined PDG Shopping Cart. These latest editions of PDG Shopping Cart and PDG Commerce represent the result of over seven years of real world application and user feedback.

Below you will find information on some of the new features that are available in PDG Shopping Cart and PDG Commerce Version 4.

Site Creation/Site Design Tools and Skins

Users may design, share, download, and sell packaged "skins" for PDG Shopping Cart and PDG Commerce. A skin can consist of customized templates, images/buttons, and cascading style sheets. Each aspect of a skin can be modified within the software's new "site design" portion of the administration panel. Users may specify background colors, font colors, font sizes, font styles, link properties, and more from directly within their PDG product's administration panel. Please refer to the user documentation for information on activating site design.

Froogle/Yahoo Store Exports

PDG merchants can create export files from directly within their PDG product's administration panel that will allow them to list their products directly with Froogle and Yahoo Stores to increase their web store's exposure.

Web-Based Product Import/Export

PDG merchant can import and export product CSV (comma delimited) files from directly within their product's administration panel. These files may be edited within a spreadsheet application to add new products, update existing products, and even to remove obsolete products. Import new product lists to your database, add to your existing lists, and update existing products by simply importing a new CSV file. You may quickly and easily download backup files of any or all current product categories.

Multiple Administrative User Accounts with Restrictive Access

Version 4 allows merchants to set up multiple user accounts for the PDG product's administration panel- each with their own set of restrictive access.

Search Engine Optimization Tools

Merchant can use PDG tags that insert a product or category's name, description, keywords, and more into their page titles and meta description and keyword fields.

New Template Displays

PDG merchants are able to further customize the appearance of thumbnail search results and basket displays. By checking a box within their product's administration panel, they may indicate whether they would like pricing to be displayed on search result template pages. Similar checkboxes allow the merchant to include their thumbnail image on their basket display, and to make the product's title field on the basket link back to the product details page.

Mac OS X Server Support

Merchants have the option of hosting their PDG Software package on Mac servers running OS X Server edition.

Additional Templates and Button Sets to Choose From

PDG Software has created additional button and template sets for PDG Shopping Cart and PDG Commerce, and of course, merchants may still choose to design their own. Additionally, new custom templates are available for merchants to utilize.

Recurring Billing

PDG Merchants utilizing VeriSign's Payflow Pro transaction gateway have the option of taking advantage of VeriSign's recurring billing service. This new integration allows the merchant to set up recurring payments at regular intervals for services such as subscriptions, memberships, and other items billed on a recurring basis.

PDG Shopping Cart and PDG Commerce also include all core PDG features-including easy installation and set up; a web-browser administrator interface; affiliate tracking; inventory tracking; Microsoft FrontPage(r), Macromedia Dreamweaver(r), Macromedia Dreamweaver Ultradev(r), and NetObjects Fusion(r) web development components; and compatibility with UPS OnLine(r) Tools. PDG products operate on multiple server platforms including Microsoft Windows NT(r), Microsoft Windows(r) 2000 as well as multiple versions of UNIX.
